Email Setup

These instructions are to be used to setup extra email accounts. If you went through the Internet Connection Wizard (ICW) your first email account should already be setup. Now to setup the rest of your accounts. The first thing is to Open your Outlook Express and either click "Work Offline" or "Cancel" when the connection dialog pops up.

1. Click on Tools at the top of the screen.

2. Click on the word Accounts

A new window will pop up that will be labeled "Internet Accounts" there are four tabs across the top and you will need to click on the one that says "Mail"

When you click on the mail tab you should see one account listed which should be named pop3.citynet.net. This is the email account that was setup with the Internet Connection Wizard. To keep the accounts identified and separate so that it will be easier to keep track of them in the future we are going to change a few things before we add the next email account.


3. Click once on the name pop3.citynet.net and then click the properties button to the right of it.


Now you see the pop3.citynet.net Properties box. You will see that the pop3.citynet.net is highlighted.
 

  1. Press the backspace key on your keyboard and it will erase the Highlighted text.
  2. Type in your name here or another name to identify who's mail account this is
  3. Click the Apply button and then the OK button and you will be back at the Internet Accounts box.

Now you are back at the Internet Account box.

  1. Click the "Add" Button
  2. Click on the word "Mail"

Now it will start the section to take all of your relevant information.

As you did in the ICW (Internet Connection Wizard) you need to type in your name. Capitalize the first letters or your first and last names as you see below.

  1. Click on the "Next" button at the bottom

Now type in your email address exactly as you see it on your configuration sheet. Any capital letters in your email address need to be entered the same way and any dots or underlines must be included as well.

  1. Under the "Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server" section type the following:
          pop3.citynet.net


  2. Under the "Outgoing mail (SMTP) server" section type the following:
          smtp.citynet.net


  3. Click on the "Next" button at the bottom

If you look at your configuration sheet you will see a section titled "Email Accounts." Here you will see the email address, the password and Mailbox/Forward.

  1. Enter the Account name in the Mailbox/Forward location as provided. entered in the spot provided. Most begin with either a bx or a cx, but there are some exceptions for older accounts.
  2. After you enter your account name into the appropriate box, enter your password exactly as it appears on your Configuration Sheet. The password will only show up as asterisks so type it carefully.
  3. Click on the "Next" button at the bottom

Looks like you've done it all correctly and are now done. You should alter the accounts name like we did in the beginning.

  1. Click on the "Finish" button at the bottom
